Relocating to Asheville, North Carolina Asheville has earned a worldwide reputation more than 100 years ago as a prime recreation destination and has been attracting people ever since. The mountains, the culture and the community are the top reasons people give for living in Asheville. Here, local residents tell us what they love about their town.
Who: Jen and Tom Hayes
Where: West Asheville
Why: "It's a unique place in the South"
Jen Hayes travels about 120 days a year in job for the U.S. Forest Service and she's never seen the city's match.
"I've been to a lot of places and I don't think there is anything like Asheville," Jen says.
She targeted Asheville when she and her husband, Tom, who works in the Bent Creek Experimental Forest, were looking to move a few years ago from the Lexington, Ky., area.
