Karen C. Gleason arrived in Western North Carolina a veteran of the fast-paced, highly competitive real estate market in Research Triangle Park. Years later, she's found her niche locally and loves Asheville for the city is and the opportunities it affords.
Although a small-town girl (she grew up in Rocky Mount) Karen appreciates a big-city feel. With its diverse, eclectic population, quality art and music scene and architecture to rival any in the world, Asheville has it, and the city continues to surprise, inspire and amaze.
"Some days I feel like a tourist," Karen jokes.
Karen grew up dancing ballet, ballroom and tap, and her family always figured she'd be a performer. But Karen is a true real estate junkie. She loves to talk house styles, lives in a bungalow in a transitional neighborhood just north of downtown and plans to move the Gleason Team into its own West Asheville office, a renovated gas station on Haywood Road in West Asheville. (She says her favorite home in the city is the Biltmore House.)
With its diverse, eclectic population, quality art
and music scene and architecture to rival any in the
world, Asheville has big-city qualities with a small-town
feel. Here, Karen gives you her idea of the best the
city has to offer:
